Right I am back on track with my blog!

Craft with Sarah L

 Good morning everyone!

I have been very busy recently doing craft stalls, making cards, bookfolding, bags, and also taking my son to nursery before I have to start back at work full time soon!

Jack will be 1 on the 8th October so we are looking forward to that, so I am busy making a card for him. He is young at the moment so won't really remember this birthday so we are not doing much but I thought I would make a card, he loves the In The Night Garden and we all sit down and watch it whilst he has his milk before bed, so I have been trying to copy a picture from my iphone and it is a work in progress at the moment as I have to turn it into a card but the hard part is done! I am also going to make him a cake, he can have a bit but mainly for me and my husband Glen to eat, ooops! lol.       Here it is so far...

So for my stalls I have been doing bookfolding, which takes a bit of time but I love seeing the end result.
I have done a 50th, baby feet, Home and mum so far, but will do some christmas ones for my December stall and a cat one, and I can also do names if people want them!

And here is a pic of me and my stall, which I did not realise Glen was taking so that is why I am not looking!

I will be at Rochester Baptist Church, Crow Lane, Rochester, Kent, ME1 1RF on Saturday 29th October 2016 then I will be at the Casino Rooms, Rochester, Kent, ME1 1PD on the Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th December 2016 where there will also be a Dickens Christmas Festival going on at this time down the high street which is a lot of fun. If you are down in Rochester at this time come and pop in to my stall to see me!  Most of these fairs start at 10am and end at 4 or 5pm.

Look forward to seeing you there!

Watercolouring Part 2

Good morning :-)

So this is watercolouring part deux! not that exciting really, actually I think part 1 was better than this part but I will let you be the judge of that!

So since the last post I was just starting out with the watercolour paints and just painting a few colours over a water wash, and I had just started out trying it on stencils.

So these next few cards I had used several stencils to see what the outcome would be. I did not like the tree first of all as it was very blurred but after awhile like before I actually liked the tree and also the colours I had chosen which was a complete fluke but they look like autumn colours!

However, I am still not keen on the love image but my mum seems to like it! So who knows maybe its just not to my taste.

The below card I used a stencil once again but I thought it came out a bit poor and bled too much on the page so I used a wet brush and just used the paint from the butterfly images to turn into circles and I think it worked. Well it looks better now than before, I then used a white gel pen to give that reflection look on the bubble. Finally I finished it off with a Crafters Companion sentiment and some twine.

Anyways I hope you liked my post that is it from me for now, until next time!
Thank you for reading.

Watercolouring part 1

Hello everyone!

Hope you are well. So today's blog will be a two-parter, well I did not want to spoil you with all the creations all at once and also it gives me time to make more cards to write about ;-)

I have been trying out my watercolour paints, had them for awhile now but never used them so at last I have got them out but this is my first time at proper watercolouring, not just dipping a wet brush into ink pads but properly using watercolour paints!!

So I decided to just keep it simple at first, I read about painting a wash of water over the card first of all so this is what I did and then I just painted various colours over the card. Once this was dry I really did not know what to do with it at first so I kept them in my drawer, then eventually a couple of months later I got them out and stamped some sentiments (from Crafters Compantion) over the top of the colours and mounted them.I think they turned out quite nice don't you think for a first go?

So following on from there I did another card this time using a butterfly stencil and at first I thought it was a bit rubbish but then it kind of grew on me and like I have said before with other cards, it looks shabby chic.

The ribbon and sentiment at the bottom gives it a nice finishing touch.

So that is that from this post for now, stay tuned for watercolouring part 2 next week!

Thanks for reading and please leave a comment

TODO butterfly hot foiling

Good morning all!!!

Sorry I have not posted for awhile been a bit tied up with the launch of the new Stampin' Up! catalogue and also being away at Centre Parcs, which luckily we had nice weather for the five days we were there so that was very nice.

So for today's post I have been playing with my TODO machine and I love it, I can get an embossed foiled image without the need to go to a letterpressing company to get it done or just have the look of a foiled image but the image just sits there on the surface, like with a lot of the toner hot foiling machines.

So I have been making some cards with the Butterfly hot foil plate and just look how lovely it has come out. The card on the right is made with the hot foil plate, and I love the colour of the foil as well. You do not need anything else to go with this as the image sells itself!

The card on the right and at the bottom are made with the off cuts of the foil used on the butterfly hot foil plate. These are not embossed but they make beautiful vintage/shabby chic images which are just as nice as the original image.

Anyways these are just a few of the cards made with the TODO machine and I have plenty more to show, just not enough time or space on my phone to write about them yet or to take pics. However, I will get them on here eventually!

Also a tip with using the TODO machine, as I have to admit that I have had a few issues with hot foil plates cutting into my card, but use Hunkydory Cardstock as it seems to work perfectly on there. I do not know if it is the coating of the card but I have made most of my images using this cardstock with no issues!

So that is that from me for now, but I will be back with more I promise.

Thank you for reading my blog.

Unicorn & Rainbows!

Hellooo all!

Well this is my second post on this blog and I have managed to get the time to actually make quite a few cards!

This time I have been playing with Mama Elephant - Unicorn & Rainbows stamp set and I love it! I loved colouring in the cute little unicorns with my Crafters Companion Sparkle Pens. I also used Lawn Fawn Rainbow and Cloud dies, I made the rainbow by cutting out different pieces of bright card several times with the die and then picked out different sized parts and pieced them all together.

The sentiments that come with the Unicorn & Rainbow stamp set are perfect, 'Happier than a unicorn eating cake on a rainbow' are just one of them.

I had so much fun making these cards and will hopefully get more time soon to make many more :-)

Anyways that is me for now, hope you enjoyed this post I cannot seem to write a long blog but if you liked it then leave me a comment please.

Thanks!

Stampin' Up! Sarah Lindsay

So I recently went to the Ally Pally craft show on the 9th April and found some lovely stamps in which I just had to have! Also learnt new techniques and met some famous faces, such as Phill Martin, Leonie Pujol and many more!

I bought a few stamps, but will show them in different posts, the first one I will show is the 'Turn me on' stamp set by Lawn Fawn. I love their stamps as some of them can be funny, simple or kinda cute, and just make a different card to some of the usual floral ones out there.

So this is the card I made below with the stamp set:

It is quite a simple and basic card, no matting or layering, but sometimes in the past I have made some very detailed cards. They have maybe had too much going on as I have wanted to try out loads of stamps and techniques all on one card, so nowadays I am trying to reign myself in!

So the bulb outlines, inside bit of the bulb that looks like a heart and the faces are all seperate stamps. So I can change or remove the faces, and so on with the rest, which is why I like this stamp set.

I have cut out the different elements and stuck them onto the card with foam tape to give it a bit of a lift off the page and the sentiment is just stamped straight onto the card, however even though I have been stamping for years I still make mistakes and so the crystals are there to cover up the mistake that is why two of them are very close to the sentiment, mmmm..

Well anyways I hope you like the card, and until next time!
